Finding the right car for family life--especially for a young family--can be quite difficult. You want enough space but nothing too bulky, something that's going to last a long time but nothing too expensive, and something with a few nice features but nothing too fancy since the kids are likely to do a fair amount of damage. We get it. We can think of a car that checks all of those boxes. Sounds impossible? It's not. It's the Equinox. And guess what? You can find the Chevy Equinox for sale right here at Future Chevrolet of Sacramento, so there is no need to look too far. You can come over right now for a test drive if you want. But perhaps it would be beneficial to learn a little bit more about this compact SUV first.
Why the Equinox?
As a Chevy dealer, we might seem a little bit biased. That is why we'll do more than just tell you that the Equinox is a great buy; we'll tell you exactly why it's a great buy. The big focus of the Equinox is practicality. As a side benefit, the Equinox is more luxurious than its fellow small SUVs in the Chevy lineup, but practicality is its main focus. While the Trax serves as an entry-level vehicle and the Trailblazer is a more athletic subcompact SUV, the Equinox is a vehicle that provides the practicality necessary for family life while throwing in a little flare to make the ride nicer.
You can expect to find high-end color schemes and combinations, with available leather seats and even those great convenience features you've always wanted, like a heated steering wheel. But even before you even get in the car to see all of that, the exterior draws you in. With vibrant-yet-subtle color schemes and angular features for high-level aerodynamics, the Equinox is a candidate to satisfy both your practical side and your fancier side. This makes it a good car for family and professional purposes; taking colleagues out to lunch, commuting, and so on are all made more elegant in the Equinox.
The Equinox offers a tremendous amount of interior space. It may look small from the outside, but don't be deceived. The Equinox offers a whopping 63.9 cu.ft. of cargo space. That's where you really see the SUV architecture come into play, and it certainly pays off for you and your family; road trips, family vacations, and even just large grocery purchases are made easier with the Equinox. What's more, you can take up DIY projects that require larger loads than you could carry in a smaller SUV like the Trax. You don't need something the size of the Suburban to have generous cargo capacity.
The Equinox is also efficient. This is a huge asset to your family because it pays off over time. Even the Trax is not as efficient as the Equinox. Fuel efficiency sometimes comes with a slightly higher price upfront, but if you're driving your vehicle consistently, the money saved on gas over time adds up to make that little bit of extra money upfront well worth it in the end. In short, the Equinox is a great vehicle all the way around, and these selling points only begin to scratch the surface of what it offers.
The Right One
Your personal Equinox experience depends on the specific model you choose. How do you know which model to buy? Well, it depends. The first question is, are you buying new or used?
If you're buying used, you first want to look at the model years. The Equinox has only been around since 2005, but you probably won't want to go all the way back to its early days since you'll want something a little more up-to-date. We would suggest looking at the second-generation Equinox, which debuted in 2010. This still allows you to have a wide range of price points. If you want something cheaper and don't mind having some features that are a little bit dated, then you can go with an older model. If you're all about the newer features and are only looking to save a few thousand dollars on a down payment, then a more recent used model is a better fit.
Now, if you're buying new, selecting the right model is about selecting the right trim and packages. At the moment, the Equinox offers four trims. The LS serves as the base-level trim, while the Premier is, of course, the premiere luxury trim. This means the Premier includes both luxury features and higher-level convenience features, such as a hands-free power liftgate.
Beyond the trim levels are packages; the difference between these and trims is that packages transform the entire vehicle. While a trim level sets your baseline features, a package tweaks the vehicle to give it a very specific theme or focus. For example, many Chevy vehicles include a Midnight Edition, which is a "blacked out" nighttime version of the model; it's a great fit for urban dwellers who want a little more edge in their drive.
There's no right or wrong Equinox, but there is one that is best for you. The easiest way to discover the best fit is to come on over to our dealership, take a look at your options, and go for a test drive or two. Nothing beats hands-on experience, and we want you to have it here.
