What Is the Chevy Bolt?
The Chevy Bolt is a battery electric vehicle, meaning that it doesn't rely on any gasoline at all, unlike a hybrid or traditional internal combustion engine vehicle. You just plug the Bolt in, either at home or at a public charging station, when you need more power. Chevy has been building the Bolt EV, a battery-electric subcompact hatch, since 2017. The brand released the larger Bolt EUV, a battery-electric subcompact SUV, in 2022 when it realized that drivers who love electric driving might want a larger option with a more athletic stance.
The Bolt EV is ideal for drivers looking for a compact vehicle for city driving. You can easily get into the tight parking spots of Sacramento or even San Francisco with the Bolt EV. Its hatchback trunk opens large, making loading luggage, foldable bicycles, groceries, and more a breeze. It has a peppy drivetrain with plenty of torque and is a lot of fun to drive.
The Bolt EUV is a subcompact SUV with seating for five. Like the Bolt EV, it has an energetic powertrain and good torque. Thanks to its SUV roots, it's a smart choice for those looking for a higher driving position and more rugged capabilities. Both of these vehicles come in at a modest MSRP, defying the rumors that BEVs have to be expensive. Plus, there are a couple of trims to select for each vehicle, depending on your driving style and needs.

2023 Bolt EV and Bolt EUV
The 2023 model year brings exciting changes and impressive features to the Bolt lineup. Starting with the original Bolt EV, this subcompact hatch boasts an excellent EPA-estimated 259-mile range on a full charge. That's more than enough to get you to San Francisco and back. You can even make the round trip to San Jose or Lake Tahoe without having to recharge. With such a generous all-electric range, you can go to more places without wasting time recharging.
You'll find a spacious 57 cu.ft. of total cargo space in the 2023 Bolt EV, which is more than enough to handle some bags for a weekend getaway, and 36 inches of rear-seat legroom to keep backseat passengers content. The Bolt EV shines in performance, too, with available Sport Mode for a more spirited behind-the-wheel experience and the ability to go from zero to 60 in about 6.5 seconds. Plus, it has a fun sport-inspired steering wheel.
The 2023 Bolt EUV also impressed with a 247-mile driving range. That range sees a slight drop compared to the Bolt EV, but it's still more than enough to get you to and from most nearby popular destinations without pulling over to recharge. The maximum cargo volume is nearly identical to that of the Bolt EV. However, the Bolt EUV adds a hidden cargo area beneath the floor that's ideal for stashing valuables. Plus, it has a large infotainment display and a driver information system to show you important data points, including the battery level. A massive 39.1 inches of rear-seat legroom is more than enough to keep even tall passengers comfortable.
Drivers looking for an edgy style will like the available Redline Edition. It has an eye-catching black and red color scheme, with black leather-appointed upholstery, gloss black wheels with red accents, and red stitching throughout the interior. Whichever 2023 Bolt model you choose, you'll get an excellent suite of driver-assist features to keep you safe on the road and modern infotainment to keep you entertained.

How to Charge Your Bolt, Whether You're at Home or Away
If you're new to driving a BEV, then you might be wondering where (and how) exactly you power up. We've got you covered with answers, and if you still have questions, a member of our sales team will be glad to walk you through the process. Each Bolt comes with a dual-level charger, which allows you to easily switch between Level 1 and Level 2 charging. Level 1 charging uses the standard 120V outlets you already have around your house. However, if you want faster at-home charging, you can install a 240V outlet for Level 2 charging.
Additionally, there are over 40,000 public charging stations around the US and Canada. Finding these is simple, thanks to the MyChevrolet app, which will show you the locations of public charging stations near you. You can even use it to show you places to charge along any pre-set route. Keep in mind, if you want to get a really fast charge, you can plug your Bolt into a DC Fast Charger. These will be found at public charging stations and will let you add up to 100 miles of range in 30 minutes.
