Chevy Overview and History

William C. Durant was a savvy businessman who was skilled in turning failures into successes. After establishing General Motors, Durant made Henry Ford an offer he couldn't refuse-$2 million in cash and $4 million with interest over three years. Ford agreed, but the bank hit the brakes, refusing Durant the loan for the initial $2 million investment. Losing the deal, Durant was ousted from General Motors but refused to let the failure overshadow his dream.

Determined to make a huge comeback in the industry, Durant teamed up with race car driver Louis Chevrolet in 1911. Together, the partners set out to build a new type of vehicle-a high-performance model that was reliable and affordable. This marked the birth of the Chevy brand and prompted the debut of the Series C Classic Six. Despite Durant's and Chevrolet's best intentions, the Classic Six was another failure-its rare luxuries like an electric starter and electric headlamps pushed its cost higher than what most Americans could afford, and its meager engine failed to reflect Chevrolet's high-performance dreams.

Once again, Durant refused to give up and returned to the drawing board just as his partner left the company. Even without Chevrolet at the helm, the company soon flourished with more affordable models that offered greater longevity and better performance. Soon enough, Chevy became synonymous with innovation and pioneered the segment with cutting-edge technology and in-house ingenuity like the small-block V8 engine that revolutionized the entire industry.

Chevy's early adoption of new technology and its in-house engine design earned it a place as GM's top-selling brand. Chevy's vast lineup reflected this widespread innovation from performance-inspired models like the Camaro SS and the Corvette to alternative fuel vehicles like the Volt and Bolt EV. Trucks like the Silverado ingrained themselves in America's landscape while Chevy answered the growing demand for SUVs with models like the Blazer, Tahoe, and Suburban.

Silverado

Making its official debut in the late 1990s, the Silverado initially got its start in the Chevy lineup as a top-tier trim before it earned a lineup of its own. When it did, the Silverado ushered Chevy's fleet into a new era of modern innovation and gave drivers a glimpse into a future where trucks were more versatile, more capable, and more comfortable. The Silverado proved (and continues to prove) that a truck can be rugged and comfortable, capable and efficient, innovative and affordable. This is what makes the Silverado one of the best-selling trucks on American roads because it doesn't require you to settle for anything less than what you want and need in a road warrior.

Camaro

Satisfying the need for speed since the late 1960s, the Camaro is a true Chevy icon with a unique history. Ford's debut of the Mustang came as a complete surprise and forced Chevy to quickly design a competing model. This ignited a fierce competition between the Mustang and Camaro that continues today as drivers turn to the models to satiate their need for speed behind the wheel. Fortunately, that's easy to do in the Camaro with its long history of delivering jaw-dropping power and responsive handling, whether you're testing its top speed on a straightaway along the coast or navigating hairpin turns in the mountains of northern California.

Tahoe and Suburban

Chevy's ability to meet the demands and exceed the expectations of its customers is apparent in models like the Tahoe and Suburban. The Suburban is a veteran in the Chevy fleet and defined the segment of full-size SUVs as a carryall vehicle that was capable of carrying it all from passengers to cargo. Apply named, don't you agree? Always attuned to its customers, Chevy realized that the Suburban's size left a noticeable vacancy in its lineup for a smaller version that was more efficient and easier to maneuver. The Tahoe filled that gap, earning its place as the Suburban's smaller yet still capable sibling.

Who We Are: Future Chevrolet of Sacramento

Are you excited at the prospect of buying a new Chevy? Or, did your last car-buying experience leave you overwhelmed and frustrated? If so, you're not alone. Dealerships don't have the best reputation when it comes to the car-buying process since many still rely on commissions and quotas to motivate their teams. This breeds a high-pressure sales environment that's more about making the sale and less about you.

As our top priority, we're interested in getting to know more about you and your vehicle needs. Do you need a workhorse like the Silverado, a more agile truck like the Colorado, a sedan like the Bolt EV, or a family-friendly SUV like the Equinox or Tahoe? By getting to know more about you and your needs, we'll help you narrow your search and guide you through the process with transparency and integrity. You're in control of the process; we're simply here to guide the way.
