There are plenty of reasons why drivers might want to get a full-size SUV. Whether you have a big family, spend your vacations camping with friends, or love to go antiquing down in Elk Grove, having a large interior that can seat more than five people and hold bulky cargo can definitely come in handy. Whatever your reason for wanting a full-size SUV, you have great timing if you're looking for one right now because the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban have been thoroughly refreshed and updated for the 2025 model year, making them just as powerful as ever and even more stylish, comfortable, and high-tech.

As your Chevy dealer near Vineyard, we here at Future Chevrolet of Sacramento are always working hard to make sure that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision on your next vehicle purchase. So today, we're going to let you know what's new for the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban. Whether you're debating between a new or used model or deciding between a Chevy and a competitor, this is news you can use to pick an SUV that's just right for you.

New Exterior Design

No refresh would be complete without a new look, so both SUVs have an exterior makeover that makes them look more modern. All six trims have a new front fascia design, with some trims getting unique looks that match their personality. The off-road Z71, for instance, looks the part of a rugged vehicle and its high-approach front fascia is both cool-looking and functional, letting you tackle steep inclines at nearby OHV areas at the national forests and parks to the east. The High Country, on the other hand, is sleek and sporty, with black and chrome trim contrasting nicely against a range of paint colors.

All models get bold new signature lighting, though the classic Chevy C-shape is still intact. New design techniques allow front lights to have sleeker shapes while still being just as powerful. Premier and High Country trims get a fun extra touch: welcome and walk-away lighting animations come standard. These trims also get animated turn signals that make your intention even more clear and noticeable to the drivers behind you.

A Fresh Interior Design

Step inside, and you'll find a cabin that feels even more open and spacious than in previous years, so passengers in all rows can stretch out and get comfortable. Central in the dashboard, the infotainment screen has grown to 17.7 inches, making settings, alerts, and navigation directions easy to read at a glance so you can keep your eyes on the road. There's also an 11-inch driver information center behind the steering wheel that puts vital information directly in your line of sight so you can stay focused on busy freeways like I-5 and I-80.

The center console has been redesigned to give you new storage options that let you keep all your essentials on hand without cluttering the cabin. The placement of the available wireless charging pad is more convenient, too, so you can easily keep your devices powered up without getting tangled up in a bunch of cords. There are new style touches throughout the lineup, from red contrast stitching on the RST trim to a Jet Black and Sky Cool Gray colorway for the Premier's interior to authentic wood trim on the top-tier High Country.

Exceptional Performance

A capable gas-powered V8 continues to be the standard engine for both the Tahoe and the Suburban, but those who prefer diesel will be in for an upgrade. For one thing, the optional diesel engine, which is more fuel-efficient and better at providing peak power at low speeds, is now available across the entire lineup of trims. It will be the first time that this option has been available on the Z71, so off-road enthusiasts can get the improved mileage and use the high levels of torque to their advantage on rough terrain.

The new 3.0L turbo-diesel Duramax engine has already been given some real world testing under the hood of the Silverado pickup truck and has proven itself to be a solid asset. It has 10% more horsepower and 7.6% more torque than the previous version, raising those figures up to 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. Engineers have thoroughly remodeled the engine, re-tuning various elements to make it more powerful, quiet, and refined.

A Smooth Ride With Great Handling

Whether you're driving through the streets of Vineland, heading into the city, or venturing into rural or even wild areas across California, you want your ride to be smooth and comfortable. Upgrades to the suspension systems of the Tahoe and Suburban make this possible, no matter where you go or what the weather is like. The steering calibration has also been updated, giving you better control over the SUV in a wider range of conditions so that you can be prepared for just about anything.

The Connected Cameras System

Both SUVs already came standard with a modern infotainment system and comprehensive suite of safety and driver assistance features, but that doesn't mean there aren't new pieces of tech for the 2025 model year. One new feature is Connected Cameras, a system that lets you check on the exterior and interior of your SUV remotely using your smartphone, so you can see if you left anything behind without having to trek back to your parking spot and keep a virtual eye on your surroundings in risky areas. The system will also record and save video in the case of a crash or theft so you can have a definitive record of what happened.

Trailering Technology

Whether you're moving across town or heading out on vacation, being able to tow a trailer is a big advantage of owning a powerful full-size SUV. The Suburban has a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 lbs, while the Tahoe can tow as much as 8,400 lbs when properly equipped. On top of raw power, the 2025 models have a suite of new and newly enhanced features that can help you tow with confidence and stay safe on the road.

You can easily check your vehicle's load rating on the Mobile Trailering App, so you can keep track of it wherever you go and double-check it when buying a new trailer or loading up your gear. The Trailer Tire Health feature monitors the life of your trailer's tires and warns if you're going too fast, so you can avoid a blowout in the middle of the desert. If you would like to take a boat up to Lake Tahoe, you can use Boat Ramp Assist to see a checklist and step-by-step instructions for how to get ready to tow, launch your boat, and retrieve it.

All vehicles these days have backup cameras, but when you're towing a big trailer moving forward can be a challenge too. Luckily, you can use Forward Path Indication when you pull up the HD Surround Vision feature to see the width of your trailer and its projected path. The system automatically shows you guidelines when you put on your turn signal, so you don't have to work all the angles in your head. In order to stay away from narrow roads and sticky situations in the first place, you can use Trailer Navigation to get routes that are calculated with the size of your trailer in mind.
